It's My Life Series
This represents one aspect of my long term activism in the field of disability services and rights. I worked as Program Services Director for seven years at the former New York State Head Injury Association in downtown Albany, NY.
Betty Pieper received her first set of oils at the age of ten and has been painting ever since. Her work has been selected by prominent jurors for prestigious regional and national exhibitions and is owned by people throughout the country. Before the age of five, Betty had lived on Dean Street in Brooklyn, on Forsythe Street in Manhattan, on an estate in Westchester county, and with her grandparents in rural New York. Lucia Hoogervorst
Great work,Betty!
Betty Pieper replied:
Thank you, Lucia. I'm glad you stopped by because it prompted me to see your work. I especially like the celebrities - and like you I want to paint, paint, paint.

I wish I could consciously do the things you remark on in my work! I'm very intrigued to see your emerging paintings...Just remember to be as positive with yourself as you are with others! Thank you again, double. since fortunately I did do a lot more for the disability field than sitting in front of the computer.

Fantastic piece Betty, drawn to your use of red for the shadow work, this is very effective against the blue. Also appreciate the way you kept the facial details simplistic which has added to the overall feel of the portrait. Had i done this piece i would have gone for details and it would have ended up looking like a nutter in a insane asylum :) I have great admiration for the work you've done in the disability field. How can I say thank you for such high regard! I like that you gave some specifics, too, of why you think the work is good. I appreciate it very much.

Thank you, Robert. I was surprised how many visitors such a work received. The works from artists long dead have given me a lot of insight into the lives of former times and the lives of our ancestors. I like it when artists paint about daily life.

Betty, I like what Lenore says - your work feels comfortable and suggestive. Much of it could be me or people I know - great stuff.

Thank you, Charlie!

This shows the dedication it takes to get the job done and to make other people understand things that are often taken for granted
Betty Pieper replied:
Thanks, Heather.

Thank you, Lenore. What a nice sentence...familiar, comfortable, beautiful in simplicity of existence every day...You are obviously a writer as well as artist! And there is no better compliment I could ever receive on my work...
Lenore Senior
I love all your work, Betty. It feels familiar and comfortable and beautiful in the simplicity of existence every day. Fantastic work in your galleries.
