Thanks a million, Chana. This one I thought would sell in a great hurry but since I don't exhibit per se it hasn't had much exposure except online here. It has always felt 'unique' to me....almost mystical or surreal and when I've gone back (twice now) I felt as if it represents that ancient and sacred place even though it doesn't "look like" what a photographer would see.

I missed this one Betty. I'd love to see it large. I have a feeling it is impressive and light together. The cacti and butter yellow rocks are magical. I have a feeling large the background rock oushes into the sky, which seems to come forward and go way backward also at the same time. This is a special painting. like fav

Nice work. Love your use of color!

Betty Pieper replied:

Thank you. Even when I try to 'tone it down' it is just there...the color! Even en plein aire I seem to come up with what to others isn't there.

and water below. It is just too compelling to design from an endless stream of
consciousness and bring it together on a surface! Enjoy it as a unique painting, please, and not a particular place.

About Betty Pieper

Betty Pieper

Betty Pieper received her first set of oils at the age of ten and has been painting ever since. Her work has been selected by prominent jurors for prestigious regional and national exhibitions and is owned by people throughout the country. Before the age of five, Betty had lived on Dean Street in Brooklyn, on Forsythe Street in Manhattan, on an estate in Westchester county, and with her grandparents in rural New York. She watched her father build their house nearby only to sell it and announce a move to California. In San Bernardino she lived in a trailer park and later in a rural farmhouse without running water, then in an historic mansion with an Indian cellar. How did this itinerant childhood influence her art? "I learned...
