In painting people it doesn't get any better than the beautiful bodies
in our own backyard. The seventies designs lend to my own idea of
bright palettes. This was juried into a prestigious national show and one
man stood in front of it embarrassingly long and came back many times.
Betty Pieper received her first set of oils at the age of ten and has been painting ever since. Her work has been selected by prominent jurors for prestigious regional and national exhibitions and is owned by people throughout the country. Before the age of five, Betty had lived on Dean Street in Brooklyn, on Forsythe Street in Manhattan, on an estate in Westchester county, and with her grandparents in rural New York. Thanks for that specific feedback, Lutz. I still own it so I can try to photograph it again. I think I have a better camera now....I am partial to this piece, too, since it was of our daughter as a young woman. As much as I LOVE your recent soft layered colors I think that for myself I can't paint anyway but "wild".
Lutz Baar
Your best piece, I think! Worth to re-photograph for better print results.

Thanks for the compliment and for sharing the image. I will have to go to that posting if possible. I don't do any social media and quite possibly miss out on a lot of the in-house FAA opportunities as well being so backward on this type communication. By the way, I love your glamorous b/w image with the big sunglasses! I know you like to trade off icons and they are always fun to see.

Bold and nice!!
Betty Pieper replied:
Thank you, Becky. Sometimes I struggle with paintings and sometimes they just flow fast and fun and become personal favorites. Thanks for joining me in my pleasure of this one.

Betty, I can see why. Not only is the woman pretty, but the colours are just stunning in this picture. I like the stance, the way the weight is taken on the left thigh and hip and taken a little off the right leg. Superbly observed and evocatively rendered. fv
Betty Pieper replied:
Talk about observant, Arjun. You have a fine eye and some wonderful language to put forth specifics. There is a market for that somewhere! Again, many thanks.
Betty Pieper
Thanks. I'm really honored! This is one of my favorites. Just love wild color I guess.

I keep swearing that WHEN I get old I will wear stuff like this --and several people have said that would be a great improvement over my farmer get ups! HUMMMM
Betty Pieper replied:
It portrays the disco and polyester era, but with the wild mixes of boots, scarves, hats, lace and print against print I see spreading worldwide now, you may find some excitement in garden garb very soon.
Betty Pieper
This was great fun to paint. Thanks for the nice compliment.
