I love, love, love this one! The colors are so cheerful and the subject reminds me of a certain tom girl indian princess that would much rather be climbing trees than on the ground! I on the other hand would much rather NOT go up where birds were and being scared of heights my feet stay on the ground!

Yes. It was a different time. Even "tom boys" donned dresses for church. Except for planes and roller coasters I also like my feet on the ground!

Artist's Description

On exhibit in ART in Public Places sponsored by Saratoga Art Center, Saratoga Springs, NY through February 2014.
This painting was done recently from a black and white photograph of our
daughter in our apple tree many years ago. This is a departure from most paintings
which I begin as abstractions.

About Betty Pieper

Betty Pieper

Betty Pieper received her first set of oils at the age of ten and has been painting ever since. Her work has been selected by prominent jurors for prestigious regional and national exhibitions and is owned by people throughout the country. Before the age of five, Betty had lived on Dean Street in Brooklyn, on Forsythe Street in Manhattan, on an estate in Westchester county, and with her grandparents in rural New York. She watched her father build their house nearby only to sell it and announce a move to California. In San Bernardino she lived in a trailer park and later in a rural farmhouse without running water, then in an historic mansion with an Indian cellar.
