Description
People sometimes ask me how I get to my abstractions...Sometimes it is from years of observing details and bringing them to a support; other times it is from an experience - like seeing my only Maple denuded and felled - and I do several paintings within a short time abstracting more each time. It's kind of parting with it more softly this way.

Thanks! I did this when we were losing the tree. But I had also lost spirit and any desire to paint for a long time after Jeff's injuries in 2014. Listening to Brian Rutenberg's passion for painting gave me new spirit and he talked about background as foreground. Sal Cascio called it "honoring the whole".
