They say an indication of a true artist is their ability to draw straight lines and perfect circles, You've done both of these in this piece. I would have been tempted to use a ruler, thus proving my artistic ability, or lack of :)

Funny but I have trouble with both....the circle was probably a top from a paint tube pressed down and the lines go well IF I remember to use my whole arm from the shoulder. Precision, though, is not my forte...more like wallowing in paint. My mentor at times would pick up the terp rag to wipe paint off my face before he could focus to comment on the work!

Artist's Description

Since I don't blog or do social media, these images of the red rocks and railroad
trestle will provide insight to my intuitive approach and process. Every artist has at least one canvas, I think, that keeps calling for more variations. This is Final Version of Red Rocks and Trestle...I think.

Betty Pieper received her first set of oils at the age of ten and has been painting ever since. Her work has been selected by prominent jurors for prestigious regional and national exhibitions and is owned by people throughout the country. Before the age of five, Betty had lived on Dean Street in Brooklyn, on Forsythe Street in Manhattan, on an estate in Westchester county, and with her grandparents in rural New York. She watched her father build their house nearby only to sell it and announce a move to California. In San Bernardino she lived in a trailer park and later in a rural farmhouse without running water, then in an historic mansion with an Indian cellar.
