weed lilies and the strong design in the relationship of
the leaves against the misty sky.
About Betty Pieper
Betty Pieper received her first set of oils at the age of ten and has been painting ever since. Her work has been selected by prominent jurors for prestigious regional and national exhibitions and is owned by people throughout the country. Before the age of five, Betty had lived on Dean Street in Brooklyn, on Forsythe Street in Manhattan, on an estate in Westchester county, and with her grandparents in rural New York. She watched her father build their house nearby only to sell it and announce a move to California. In San Bernardino she lived in a trailer park and later in a rural farmhouse without running water, then in an historic mansion with an Indian cellar. Thank you, Hanne. I like your work too. This is a big painting. Lately doing water media I've done the opposite extreme in very small close up flowers...but I changed the color of a purple iris to pink so I guess I'll never be a realistic painter even when it is right before my nose!

Thanks a million, Dawn. To this day I get more 'lightness' and luminosity with the oils than acrylics so they seemed best for this work. But every medium has its beauty and I admire that way you use gouche...

Love this one of course! The common ditch lily never looked so good and I will even take the weeds with them if I don't have to be the one yanking them out of the garden!
