Artist's Description
The painting is an abstraction - as all paintings are, of course - of an autumn scene from my bedroom window. It was juried into a prestigious exhibit at the ARKELL by
the head of studio arts for a major university.
About Betty Pieper
Betty Pieper received her first set of oils at the age of ten and has been painting ever since. Her work has been selected by prominent jurors for prestigious regional and national exhibitions and is owned by people throughout the country. Before the age of five, Betty had lived on Dean Street in Brooklyn, on Forsythe Street in Manhattan, on an estate in Westchester county, and with her grandparents in rural New York. She watched her father build their house nearby only to sell it and announce a move to California. Thrilling to revisit this beauty Betty. I haven't spent much time in these past months on FAA...am back for the time being, again taking in the art that has been so nourishing. I hope you are well. You are in my thoughts....Chana

You are too kind, Maria....I feel the same about your work and especially the Celtic Knots...
Betty Pieper
Maria, Your work in Celtic Knots is world class...the way you integrated at least two areas to be read as water...including a 'stream'....and yet designed the whole surface flawlessly...What a tribute to have your generous comment here! Thanks.

How totally magnificent. I couldn't paint with this approach to save me... I love your abstract style. You are still able to describe with so few brush strokes the stream flowing through an autumn scene. So much talent, Betty. F/L

Thank you so much. I felt honored to have Louise Hamlin, Professor of Studio Arts at Dartmouth College, select this for a juried show several years ago. Sometimes I think I don't need validation but honestly your comment feels wonderful just as her judgement did then. Painters commenting on other painters is especially meaningful to me.

Wonderful work, Betty

Wonderful Artwork, Betty...I like it so much....
Betty Pieper replied:
Thanks so much. I sure do love trees and right now where I live the green is abundant but summer comes and goes quickly and soon I'll see this scene from my window again!

Had to revisit this one Betty.... I really love it!!!!! l/f again
Betty Pieper replied:
Nice to hear from you, Chana. Thank you. I'm just re-entering the real world after those months in the hospital with Jeff...and getting back to ART. Your portfolio is as gorgeous as ever, maybe even more colorful and bold. Your site does FAA proud.
Len Stomski
Very nice Betty, Clean and Fresh a joy for sure. v/f
Betty Pieper replied:
Thank you, Len. We sure know this great northeast terrain, don't we! Appreciate your support always.
Dave Farrow
Beautiful Autumn painting Betty....your colors are spot on perfect in this gold medal work of art
Betty Pieper replied:
Hi Dave, Thank you so much. It is hot as double LL now in our great northeast even a night it seems but it won't be long and we will see this phenomenon again. Our granddaughter just visited and said, "Grandma. You sure love TREES."

I missed this... another great painting, I love the colors and size distortion of the leaves , your play with large and small, top and bottom, side to side, and vertical planes and meandering depth. like/fav
Betty Pieper replied:
Thank you. What an incredible eye you have and for those 'layers' I love in your own work. When I painted this I saw the masses as huge branches full of foliage/leaves but later it seemed as if those very shapes served double duty as great individual leaves which was intuitive or dumb luck....
Kume Bryant
Fabulous painting, love it! vf and g+
Betty Pieper replied:
Thanks for the generous comment and the google plus which I don't use yet. I feel lucky to have leaves that turn bright colors...not that I don't paint wild colors whether they are in nature or not!
Heather Hotaling
I love the colors in this one---I sure miss TREES where I am now...and leaves... the color isn't as good here in the Mid Atlantic but....the garden colors WOW.
Hanne Lore Koehler
Great composition, Betty! Love the colorful focal point. Thank you so much for your generous comments on my paintings.
Betty Pieper replied:
Thanks, Hanne. This is one of those paintings that looks much better "in person" so I'm glad its merit came through to you.
Sandy McIntire
I really like this one! Thanks for your comment on my painting. I really appreciate encouragement from a seasoned an professional artist.
Betty Pieper replied:
Thanks. I loved the fall scene..combining a contemporary use of the support with a folk art aspect. Keep your brushes wet, Sandy!
Bob Salo
very nice work Betty...great portfolio
Betty Pieper replied:
What a fine compliment. Thank you.
Heather Hotaling
The colors in the look alive and you can almost smell apples and hear the crunch of the leaves
Betty Pieper
The Great Northeast...not as permanent for brilliant color as the southwest but more than OK!
Julie Hemmings
Love the colors!
