Title
Backside of Schenectady Stockade in February
Artist
Betty Pieper
Medium
Painting - Acrylic
Description
Schenectady has one of the oldest and most historic sections in the United States; it is still called the stockade to recall the fortifications needed for
brutual Indian raids. The local Native Americans were extremely helpful after one horrible massacre. I found the area most interesting from the riverside in February and gave it some bright colors for a drear day.

Lovely and very colorful landscape!
Betty Pieper replied:
Thanks so much, Dakos. It is not your ordinary landscape so I'm especially pleased that you like it.

Great work, and lovely colors...
Betty Pieper replied:
Thank you, Jason. You might have guessed that the real scene is not as colorful but I like to paint in an expressionist way. It is so nice that you in Indonesia can 'visit' such an old and distant area.

Thank you for featuring my work! For some reason this is how I think of the old Dutch part of Schenectady. I'm not sure most people like this but I do and I'm pleased that you do!

Many thanks. New York is beautiful...such a variety of land and cityscapes. Even ocean. Wish it were a bit less costly to live here, but -. It's great that you like this rather unusual take on the historic section of Schenectady, Janel.

Wow, Betty, your artwork and biography is fantastic! I admire your paintings so much. I am so happy you commented on my paintings so that I can know you. I am flattered that you like my paintings and can learn so much from you also. I lived in New York off and on for a few years.....I love it there. Thank you!
