Title
At Wintergreen Park Canajoharie 1957
Artist
Betty Pieper
Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Canvas Board
Description
Wintergreen Park is a natural wonder in central New York near Canajoharie. The slate/shale rocks and cascading waterfalls culminate in a falls of about 50 feet and then a still green pool. Unfortunately the water access is now closed to the public due to deaths and law suits. My friend and I spent a day of fun and quiet in September of 1957 apparently being the only humans in this vast and ancient habitat. Full proceeds will go to ARKELL and Canjoharie Library.

Great work,Betty. All those blue variations, the strong way you seem to handle your brushes, the posture and expression of the girl and the colors in her face:great!
Betty Pieper replied:
Thank you, Lucia. The gorge is shale and although there are many 'shades of grey' I take poetic license with color and design. I'm pleased that you like it.

I love the funky retro shirt. The stripes in the shirt are interesting against the other horizontal lines.
Betty Pieper replied:
Thanks. The funky stripes emerged from a flannel shirt after the stripes in the distance and the layers of horizontal rock. You KNOW how I love stripes inside and out.
